Bosnia &Herzegovina and Serbia

My NYU journey took me to Sarajevo, Bosnia, where we had a firsthand chance to observe the workings of the War Crimes Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This hybrid tribunal, tasked with prosecuting war crimes, offered a unique perspective on the process of international justice. In Sarajevo, I interacted with court personnel, journalists, NGOs, and even victims’ groups.

Our journey continued by bus to the Srebrenica memorial sites at Potocari. After paying our respects, we proceeded to Belgrade. The final leg of our educational journey included two insightful days in Belgrade. Here, we had thoughtful conversations with Serbian NGOs, and legal personnel at Belgrade’s War Crimes Chamber. The knowledge and understanding I gained through this international study experience have been invaluable.
